Vintage Tea Party
Picture, Vintage Teas 2018
Our annual Vintage Tea Party and 'Dymock Island Discs' was held in church on 23 June. This year around 30 parishioners gathered to share a traditional 'Afternoon Tea' of sandwiches and home-made cake and listen to David Clowes' account of his career and choice of eight records. (Return to top)

David told us went to university at Imperial college, London, where he studied engineering and during which time he met his wife, Ruth, who was studying as a dietician. He worked in various branches of the transport industry, which explains his interest since retiring - being too old to be a train driver he opted to volunteer as a signalman on the Gloucester and Warwick Heritage Railway. He was licensed as a Lay Reader in Coventry Cathedral 40 years ago before moving to Surrey and the diocese of Southwark, and most recently to Dymock in the diocese of Gloucester. (Return to top)

He had many work exploits to recount, including several turns of work overseas, and his choice of music was selected to remind him his memories ranging from Flander's and Swan's 'London Transport Omnibus' to Rachmaninoff (Return to top)
